Rocky Harbour Cottage Development Plan – Amendment No. 4, 2010
Proponent: Land Management Division (Reg. 1490)
The project consists of the fourth amendment to the Rocky Harbour Cottage Development Plan. The proponent proposes the development of 50 new remote recreational cottage lots within the Rocky Harbour Cottage Planning Area located within an enclave inside Gros Morne National Park, 5 kilometers east of the community of Rocky Harbour on the west coast of Newfoundland. Access to the enclave is across a 30 meter parcel of land under the jurisdiction of Gros Morne National Park adjacent to Route 430. All cottage sites are considered remote and accessible only by walking, snowmobile or all-terrain vehicle (licensed trails only). A 0.4 hectare parcel of Crown Land will be allocated for each cottage lot with typical dimensions of 45m x90m. Currently there are 41 licensed cottage lots located in six designated cottage development areas within the enclave. Development of cottage lots will be the responsibility of individual cabin owners once allocation has been completed.
The undertaking was registered on April 14, 2010; public comments are due by May 19, 2010; and, the minister's decision is due by May 29, 2010.
